M&M Recycling is a family-owned scrap metal processing company dedicated to safety, productivity, and the highest quality standards in the recycling industry. We purchase, process, and sell both ferrous and non-ferrous metals while maintaining a culture built on teamwork, integrity, and growth.

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of industrial and heavy equipment used in our processing yard. The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, safety-conscious, and experienced in servicing large machinery in a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment including:
• Cranes with magnets and grapples
• Excavators
• Bobcats
• Forklifts
• Metal chopping machines
• Metal shredders
• Roll-off trucks, box trucks, and other fleet
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime.
• Inspect equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records.
• Collaborate with yard supervisors and operations team to prioritize repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Follow all company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an industrial mechanic or heavy equipment technician (scrap metal or recycling industry experience preferred).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Proficient with welding and fabrication repairs (preferred).
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in outdoor conditions year-round.
• Comfortable working around large, moving equipment and noisy environments.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM | Saturday, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM (44 hours per week guaranteed, extra hours as needed)
