Job summary

PADNOS is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I to keep our recycling and material handling machinery running smoothly at our Michigan sites. You will perform preventative maintenance on loaders, excavators, forklifts, cranes, balers, conveyors, and related equipment, with hands-on repairs as needed.

The role requires 1–3 years of mechanic experience, vocational/technical training in heavy equipment or diesel tech, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather while lifting 50+ pounds.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of heavy equipment maintenance experience.
• Vocational or technical training in heavy equipment or diesel technology.
• Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform manual labor.
• Welding and torching knowledge a plus.
• Military experience welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Change fluids, filters, tracks, belts, and wear components.
• Assist with repairs to hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Identify equipment issues and communicate findings to senior technicians.
• Operate heavy equipment for testing and inspection purposes.
• Maintain service records and work orders.
• Keep work areas clean and compliant with safety regulations.
• Assist with field repairs and emergency breakdown response.
• Follow lockout/tagout and company safety procedures.

Position Summary

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic I, you'll keep the machines that power our recycling and material handling operations running strong. You'll handle preventative maintenance and basic repairs on equipment like loaders, excavators, skid steers, forklifts, cranes, balers, conveyors, and mobile processing equipment — hands-on work that keeps our sites moving safely and efficiently.

Schedule

• Monday - Friday
• 6:00 am - 4:30 pm
