Job summary

West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is seeking a 2nd shift heavy equipment mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, inspection, and repairs on a fleet of trucks and equipment in Grand Rapids, MI. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing, ordering parts, and documenting repairs and times electronically.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with relevant automotive/heavy equipment training and at least two years of hands-on experience in repairs, or an equivalent

• At least two (2) years of experience performing automotive/heavy equipment/small engine mechanical repair and maintenance; and/or state certifications.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.

Nature of Work

The purpose of this job is to perform preventive maintenance, inspection and repairs to heavy equipment with a variety of gasoline and diesel engines. Responsible for preparing work orders and the requisition of parts and equipment for repair.

Please Note:

This position is 2nd Shift. Hours: 2:00 pm to 12:00 AM, Days: Four, 10-hour workdays. A schedule of Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday will be assigned.

Minimum Training and Experience Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma (or GED equivalent) with training in automotive/heavy equipment/light equipment, gasoline or diesel engine repairs

• At least two (2) years of experience performing automotive/heavy equipment/small engine mechanical repair and maintenance; and/or state certifications

• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Possession of a valid Michigan Commercial Driver's License, Class A with an N Endorsement or the ability to obtain one within the six (6) month probationary period
