Job summary

MANTECH seeks a motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Hanahan, SC. The selected candidate will provide maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the ALECS program.

Responsibilities include planning, evaluating installations, and ensuring compliance with engineering specifications while performing routine mechanical work and related duties. US citizenship and clearance readiness are required.

Qualifications

  • 6 years of automotive maintenance experience.
  • Maintenance operations experience, including maintenance and repair of commercial or military equipment.
  • Ability to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location of work.

Responsibilities

  • Research, plans, designs and develops new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Reviews contractor's standards, specifications and other documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
  • Designs, repairs or reviews gas and diesel engines, simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems to meet specifications.
  • Gathers and correlates data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and simple tests.
  • Guides technicians in fabrication and installation of equipment to ensure conformance with specifications.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to improve function.
  • Reviews and corrects drawings to ensure products meet engineering standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our vehicle sustainment team in Hanahan, SC The selected candidate will provide maintenance support to multiple families of vehicles globally on the Allied Logistics Engineering Capabilities Sustainment (ALECS) program.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Research, plans, designs and develops new applications for electro-mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Reviews contractor's standards, specifications and other documentation to determine mechanical engineering requirements.
  • Designs, repairs or reviews gas and diesel engines, simple mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, ventilation and/or instrumentation systems using analytical and investigative methods and techniques to ensure systems meet required specifications.
  • Gathers and correlates basic data and performs routine engineering research and development assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests to develop new applications or upgrade existing hardware.
  • Guides and assists technicians in fabrication and installation of simple mechanical and related equipment and routine systems to ensure conformance of product and systems with engineering design and customer specifications.
  • May evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve equipment or system function.
  • May review and correct drawings to ensure that products are in accordance with proper engineering techniques and specifications.
  • Tasks may require physical abilities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years of automotive maintenance.
  • Experience in maintenance operations, including performance of maintenance and repair of commercial or military equipment.
  • Ability to successfully pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screening; must possess a Valid Driver’s License for the location in which the work will be performed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred areas of commercial or military experience are with light or heavy-duty trucks, tractors, tactical vehicles, generators, power plants, aircraft or any diesel or gasoline powered equipment or vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel to various US or OCONUS locations.
Clearance Requirements
  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to starting this position.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to balance, bend, carry, crouch, stretch and kneel.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and reach.
  • Must be able to work in high noise areas.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and small parts.
  • Must be able to work with computers and CRTs, and type on a computer keyboard.
