Opti Staffing in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and hydraulic systems across excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, and dump trucks. You will read manuals and wiring diagrams, and perform on-site field service with potential overtime.

Requirements include 3+ years of hands-on experience, own hand tools, and a valid driver's license. ASE or OEM certifications are a plus, with a strong focus on safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic/technician
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Ability to read technical manuals and wiring diagrams
  • Own set of hand tools
  • Valid driver's license
  • Welding/fabrication experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, dump trucks, etc.)
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance, including fluid changes, filter replacements, and inspections
  • Repair or replace worn or damaged parts, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriages
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel engines and electrical/electronic control systems
  • Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
  • Complete detailed maintenance and repair records/work orders
  • Respond to field breakdowns and perform on-site repairs as needed
  • Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment complies with safety regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area

Heavy Equipment Mechanic $30.00 - $50.00 per hour, DOE

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy machinery and equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and heavy equipment components, and takes pride in keeping equipment running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, dump trucks, etc.)

  • ASE or manufacturer-specific certifications a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying weather conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Schedule & Compensation

Pay: $30.00-$50.00/hour, depending on experience Full-time position May require occasional overtime, on-call, or field service work
