Job summary

The Maryland Department of Transportation's District 5 – St. Mary’s County (Leonardtown Shop) is recruiting for a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician Apprentice.

This is an Interview and Hire position open to anyone who meets the minimum qualifications listed below. The program offers on-the-job training with supervision; applicants may be required to obtain a Class B CDL within six months and must meet the licensing requirements of Maryland.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
• Possession of a valid Maryland driver's license may be required; Class B CDL within six months may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform routine maintenance and repair on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Work under close supervision of a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor.
• Be available for duty 24 hours as needed and work outdoors in all weather.
