Job Summary

By joining our BV Construction group, you will have the ability to develop and enhance your skills in an on-site, hands-on environment. We are committed to providing our construction professionals with expert training, career development, and career advancement to allow for continuous professional development. Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering. This is a field-based role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use appropriate hand (i.e. screwdriver, drill) and power tools (i.e. air drill, impact wrench) to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment.
  • Receive equipment, document the condition, schedule maintenance, and keep equipment service records.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs, using engine diagnostic equipment.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
  • Adjust and maintain industrial machinery, using control and regulating devices.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, and fabricate needed parts or items from sheet metal.
  • Safely dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Weld or solder broken parts and structural members.
  • Repair, rewire, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Research, order, and maintain parts inventory for services and repairs.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly.
  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Assist equipment operators in completing daily equipment inspections.
  • Ensure that equipment leaving the job or warehouse is Job-ready for the next assignment.
  • May act as a lead and direct other professionals.
  • Identify and assess improvement opportunities and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in and/or lead all safety related processes and programs.
  • Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor.
  • Participate in and/or lead all pre-job work planning and safety discussions.
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
Management Responsibilities

Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 7 years of experience working as a Mechanic that is considered an A level Technician.
  • At least 2 years experience working as a manager or supervisor.
  • Must have working knowledge of industrial construction equipment, machines and tools.
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean MVR.
  • Must have all necessary tools.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Position will require the possession of or obtaining a Class A CDL (within 6 months of hire).
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Travel may be required.
  • Typically, a mixture of office, warehouse, laydown yard, and construction project site environment.
  • Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
  • Requires working in very hot or very cold temperatures and exposure to inclement weather.
  • Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions.
  • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
  • Requires exposure to high places.

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and move in and around confined and cluttered places.
  • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
  • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
