Overview

Diesel Service Technician – Utility Trucks and Equipment. Based out of the Harrisburg/Lancaster area, Kuharchik Construction is seeking an individual with experience repairing and maintaining our truck fleet and heavy-duty equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Assess, diagnose, repair and/or replace damaged or worn parts on a variety of utility trucks and equipment such as bucket trucks, diggers and hydraulic systems.
  • Assess, diagnose and repair and/or replace damaged and worn parts for a variety of utility equipment to ensure quality standards are achieved.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of parts, services and labor to track costs.
  • Submit all work and repair orders as required to a supervisor for approval to ensure budgets are maintained and costs of vehicle repairs are accurate through Fleet Maintenance Software.
  • Must be a team player, creative, dedicated, and take responsibility for repair work.
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
  • Ability to read service and repair manuals.
  • Perform all duties with safety best practices in mind for a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with diesel, medium or heavy truck and equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and trucks.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • CDL license a plus but not required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Vocational Technical School or Military Wheeled Mechanic or related training a plus.
  • 3 or more years of maintenance and repair of utility trucks and equipment.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Ability to service trucks and equipment on the road and/or at jobsites.
Physical Environment

Workplaces include garages, repair shops, construction sites, truck terminals, or outdoor job sites.

Physical Demands

Often involves standing, crouching, kneeling, or lying under vehicles for extended periods.

Manual Labor

Frequent lifting of heavy tools or parts (sometimes over 50 lbs).

Environmental Conditions

Indoor and outdoor work; may be exposed to heat, cold, or poor weather when working outside.

Noise

Engines, power tools, and heavy machinery can make the work noisy.

Grease, oil, and dirt: Expect exposure to dirty or greasy conditions.
