Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOpenwork is currently engaged in a search to find a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic in Locust Grove, GA. In this role, you will be responsible for maintenance, repair and inspection of diesel-powered heavy machinery commonly used in industrial environments. Apply today if you meet the qualifications listed below. In a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic job you’ll be responsible for:

1. Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel-powered heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, bobcats, wheel loaders, cranes and roll-off trucks.
2. Performing preventive maintenance on engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
3. Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and manuals.
4. Conducting safety inspections and ensure all equipment complies with OSHA standards.
5. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repair work using maintenance tracking software.
6. Replacing or repairing defective components such as alternators, starters, fuel systems, and hydraulic pumps.
7. Collaborating with operations staff to prioritize equipment repairs and minimize downtime.
8. Ordering parts and maintaining inventory of tools and equipment.
9. Ensure cleanliness and safety of the workshop and adhere to company safety procedures.

What you’ll need:

1. Previous experience as a diesel mechanic on heavy equipment.
2. Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and heavy machinery components.
3. Ability to use diagnostic software and electronic control systems.
4. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
5. Physically able to lift heavy components and work in various weather conditions.
6. Must be OK with working outdoors.
7. Must have steel toe boots.
