Job summary

Benchmark Electronics Inc in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Heavy Equipment Assembler to work with state-of-the-art machinery for defense solutions. This full-time role offers a 4x10 schedule, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with hands-on assembly and strong emphasis on safety and quality.

You will assemble large-scale systems, use pneumatic and hydraulic tools, interpret blueprints, and participate in continuous improvement programs.

Qualifications

• 1 to 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Ability to interpret technical blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and work orders.
• Familiarity with basic manufacturing safety requirements and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and install complex, large-scale machinery and sub-assemblies to vehicles.
• Utilize pneumatic impact wrenches, hydraulic torquing tools, and hand tools.
• Material handling of heavy equipment in both an inside and outside work environment.
• Assist in the testing and qualification for new equipment, materials, and processes.
• Integrates subassemblies into top level functional systems.
• Validates compatibility and communications between integrated systems.
• Performs repair and maintenance tasks for vehicles and subsystems including system calibration and leveling.
• Work with quality to perform validations tests per customers specifications for Final Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP).
• Secure formal customer sign-off on Process Inspection for Final Customer Order or Product Inspection / Final Customer Oversight (PIFCO) documentation to authorize shipping.
• Take the vehicles out to the field to perform systems calibration and leveling.
• May be responsible for helping train new operators.
• Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen continuous improvement activities.
• Follow security policies; standard practices; analyze data; other duties

Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Assembler will work hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment, technology and hardware supporting Benchmark’s line of customizable defense solutions for surveillance, secure communication, and military live training instrumentation. Shift/Hours: This position is full-time (40 hours/week) working an Alternative Work Schedule (4 x 10) Monday through Thursday. Shift hours are 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble and install complex, large-scale machinery and sub-assemblies to vehicles.
• Utilize pneumatic impact wrenches, hydraulic torquing tools, and hand tools.
• Material Handling of heavy equipment in both an inside and outside work environment.
• Assists in the testing and qualification for new equipment, materials, and processes.

• Validates compatibility and communications between integrated systems.
• Performs repair and maintenance tasks for vehicles and subsystems including system calibration and leveling.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires lifting heavy equipment 50+ pounds (with assistance of a lift for 25 + lbs).
• Requires bending, stooping, crouching, and crawling inside, under, and around vehicles.
• Requires working inside and outside.

Preferred Experience

• 1 to 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with heavy mechanical assembly in automotive, aerospace, aviation or other related industries.
• Proficient in use of power tools, heavy machinery, and test equipment.
• Ability to interpret technical blueprints, schematics, engineering drawings, and work orders.
• Familiarity with basic manufacturing safety requirements and PPE usage.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines and high-quality expectations.
• May consider applicants without manufacturing experience but have worked directly in the automotive environment with a focus on maintenance or mechanical job duties.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Compensation Range: $23.97 to $35.95 USD. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
