Job summary

Daimler Truck North America is seeking an Engineering Technician for the Vehicle Test Center in Detroit, MI. The role involves hands-on testing, prototype builds, and instrumenting vehicles to support development programs.

Responsibilities include vehicle testing, diagnostics, data collection, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance during testing and evaluations. A CDL is required or must be obtainable, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent technical experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and automotive repair knowledge.
• Experience working with vehicle systems and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CDL Class A with P and N endorsements.
• Ability to perform physically demanding mechanical work.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical schematics.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and computer-based diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Vehicle Testing & Validation: Execute testing activities for development programs and document issues.
• Prototype Build & Vehicle Modification: Support assembly, modification, and instrumentation.
• Mechanical & Electrical Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair vehicle systems.
• Data Acquisition & Instrumentation: Install and troubleshoot instrumentation systems and collect data.
• DOT Compliance & Commercial Vehicle Operation: Maintain CDL and ensure regulatory compliance.
