Job summary

Vector Fleet Services in Mount Pleasant, SC is seeking a skilled Med/Heavy Diesel Technician/Mechanic to promptly repair and maintain medium to heavy duty fleet vehicles, ensuring safe, efficient operation. Knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines, electrical systems, preventative maintenance, and DOT inspections is required.

Compensation is based on experience: $26-$38/hr. Shift is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or possess auto/diesel diploma from an accredited technical school.
• CDL class A or B preferred.
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
• Knowledge of hand-held scan tools and diagnosing vehicles.
• Proficient with Excel/Word and fleet-management software.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicle records and reporting (manual and computer).
• Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on medium to heavy duty vehicles.
• Conduct safety inspections and complete safety documentation.
• Comply with applicable laws and company policies.
• Inspect and service undercarriage and remove/install parts as needed.
• Interact with clients via email or phone as necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.

Position Summary

Vector Fleet Services, one of the leading fleet maintenance companies in the US, is looking to hire a skilled Med/Heavy Diesel Technician/Mechanic! The Diesel Technician is responsible for the timely repair and maintenance of medium to heavy duty fleet vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient operation. The Diesel Technician position requires high level of proficiency and working knowledge related to heavy duty Diesel Engine diagnosis and repair. Comprehension of Fleet Maintenance operations, understanding of electrical, preventative maintenance and DOT inspection experience and knowledge.

Compensation: Based on experience, $26-$38/hr

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

What the Diesel Technician/Mechanic role looks like:

• Prepare vehicle records and report both manually and on a computer
• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to medium to heavy duty vehicles
• Perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures
• Inspect and perform work on the under parts of vehicles
• Move parts to and from the job site and remove or install these parts on vehicles
• Interact with clients through both email or phone as necessary
• Perform other duties as required

What our ideal candidate looks like:

• At least 5 years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance or must possess auto or diesel technology diploma from an accredited technical school
• Commercial Driver’s License class “A” or “B “ preferred
• Must provide own hand tools & toolbox.
• Knowledge of hand-held scan tools and the process of diagnosing vehicles.
• Proficient computer skills: knowledge of Excel, Word, Fleet Management Systems, and Email
• Strong written and verbal communication skills (documentation, communication with peers, supervisors, etc.)
