Job summary

Priority Waste Resources in Wayne, Michigan, is hiring a Preventative Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain refuse vehicles and heavy equipment, including brakes, hydraulics, electrical, and engine systems. You will perform diagnostics, preventive maintenance, repairs, and basic welding as part of a hands-on maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum experience as a heavy-duty technician.
• Ability to perform basic inspections of brakes, hydraulics, emissions, drivetrain, suspension and steering.
• Experience with maintenance on refuse trucks and heavy machinery is preferred.
• CDL is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Keeps up on maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs engine repair and maintenance.
• Performs welding and fabrication.
• Scans trucks and troubleshoots mechanical issues using electronic tools.
• Performs electrical repairs.
• Assists with DOT inspections.
• Completes oil changes and greasing trucks/equipment.
• Repairs tires, including replacement when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles to enable minimal downtime.
• Safely executes road service calls when necessary to ensure the equipment is being returned in a safe manner.
• Troubleshoots emissions issues.
• Actively problem solves.
• Executes work orders and submits to Maintenance Supervisor for records.
