Job summary

Mennel Milling Company is seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain and repair Class 6–8 commercial vehicles. You’ll diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, and help keep our transportation fleet running safely and efficiently.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with preferred ASE certification or an associate degree. CDL Class A is a plus for future advancement, and two years of heavy-duty experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or ASE Certification preferred.
• Two years of related diesel/heavy-duty maintenance experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Class 6–8 systems.
• Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on Class 6–8 vehicles to identify repairs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure reliability and safety.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle computer systems and electronic components.
• Repair or replace worn parts to restore functionality.
• Test components after repairs to verify performance and safety.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and keep work areas organized and safe.
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

What You’ll Do

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing Class 6–8 commercial vehicles to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Your work will help minimize downtime, extend vehicle life, and support the overall success of our transportation operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on Class 6–8 commercial vehicles to identify necessary repairs.

Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure vehicle reliability, safety, and longevity.

Diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicle computer systems and electronic components.

Repair or replace worn, damaged, or malfunctioning parts to restore proper vehicle functionality.

Test vehicle components and systems following repairs to ensure proper performance and safety.

Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and identified issues.

Properly maintain tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.

Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA regulations, GMPs, and applicable food safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or ASE Certification preferred.

Two years of related diesel, heavy-duty truck, or commercial vehicle maintenance experience preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Class 6–8 commercial vehicle systems.

Knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.

Ability to safely operate diagnostic tools, repair equipment, and standard maintenance tools.

Class A CDL preferred for candidates interested in pursuing a Heavy Truck Technician position after 90 days of employment.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Ability to maintain accurate maintenance records and follow established safety procedures.

Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment screening.
