Job summary

SA Recycling, an industry leader in metals recycling, seeks Truck & Trailer Mechanics to diagnose, repair, service, and maintain diesel-powered trucks and trailers in shop and field settings. Position based out of our Decatur yard with travel to other local SA Recycling yards as needed.

Role requires working outdoors in varying weather, adhering to DOT standards and safety policies, and maintaining records of all work performed.

Qualifications

Two years of diesel mechanic’s service experience in a shop or military setting preferred.
Knowledge of Tier 4 engine and emissions diagnostics and repair; ASE Certification a plus.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical bulletins, schematics, manuals, drawings, and procedures.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record (Class B CDL a plus).
Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

Perform routine inspection and maintenance tasks on a mixed fleet of heavy trucks and trailers in shop or field settings.
Conduct diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, fuel, brake, suspension, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical systems.
Inspect and repair trailer components (lights, brakes, seals, suspension, hubs) per regulations.
Maintain certifications and continuing education for diesel equipment repairs.
