Description

Job Summary: This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and facilities. The ideal candidate will have intermediate diagnostic abilities, strong problem-solving skills, and a mechanical aptitude. This role also provides warehouse support.

Mechanic Responsibilities & Duties

• Inspect vehicle systems including suspension, steering, and exhausts.
• Possess in-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
• Perform general chassis and container mechanic work.
• Utilize equipment (forklift/truck) for repositioning chassis in the yard.
• Repair and/or replace vehicle brakes, air systems, tires/wheels, cooling/HVAC, 12-volt electrical systems, and electrical DEF systems.
• Use maintenance tools and repair equipment effectively.
• Operate mechanical and electrical power tools comfortably.
• Maintain keen attention to detail.
• Have basic knowledge of computer systems and electronics.
• Have advanced knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and diesel engine mechanisms.
• Proficient in using diesel engine diagnostic software.
• Work collaboratively within the shop team to ensure timely and correct completion of tasks.
• Perform annual DOT inspections.
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Exhibit good interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

• Work in various environments (cold, rain, snow, heat).
• Occasionally lift or carry up to 100 pounds.
• Be comfortable working under trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment, and standing or crawling on various surfaces.
• Must be a team player.
