Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of repair and diagnosis experience required.
  • Must have own tools and be air conditioning certified.
  • Experience with Mack/Detroit engines is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair brakes, suspension, and transmissions.
  • Maintain cleanliness of working areas and log maintenance information.

Overview

The Diesel Mechanic performs preventative maintenance on tractor trailer fleet

Level II or III mechanic

Tuesday-Friday 9pm-7am

Responsibilities
  • Perform basic inspection (check fluids, lights, brakes, etc.)
  • Perform preventive maintenance on cars, trucks, trailers, and other equipment.
  • Responsible for diagnosis and repair of tractors including but not limited to brakes, suspension, transmissions
  • Responsible for body repair including welding
  • Fuel company equipment.
  • Keep garage and all working areas clean.
  • Record and enter maintenance and parts information into the computer.
  • Work in a safe manner adhering to all MDI, state, and federal safety guidelines.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, and lift to 100 lbs
  • Operate trailer yard spotter as needed.
  • Will be required to be on call, as needed.
  • Change truck and trailer tires, as needed.
  • May be required to do other jobs or tasks, as needed.
Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of hands-on repair and diagnosis experience
  • Air conditioning certified
  • Needs the following ASE certifications: Suspension/Steering, Air brake, Diesel/Gasoline, Transmission/Differential
  • Experience in transmission/differential repair
  • Intermediate computer skills with diagnosis programs preferred
  • Experience with Mack/Detroit engines
  • Basic welding skills
  • Must be able to bend, twist, and lift up to 100+ lbs and pass lifting test.
  • Must have own basic tools and tool chest.
