Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation in Alaska seeks a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to repair and maintain diesel-powered shovels, loaders, graders, dozers, haul trucks and related gear on site. You will troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and cooling systems, perform preventative maintenance, weld when needed, prepare work orders, and train colleagues while upholding safety standards.

A high school diploma with vocational training or mining equipment experience is preferred; shift work and owning tools

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with technical training preferred.
• Ability to read/write instructions and perform basic math.
• Experience with mining/heavy equipment maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and cooling systems; troubleshoot/repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and trade-specific tools.
• Willingness to work in adverse weather; shift work, overtime, holidays, weekends.
• Own hand tools up to ¾” drive.
• Strong verbal and written communication; self-starter and team player.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment.
• Operate and inspect equipment to diagnose problems and verify repairs.
• Prepare work orders and gather parts; handle paperwork for shift changes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and document findings.
• Weld as needed.
• Train other employees as needed.
• Maintain safety and environmental compliance.
