Position: Heavy Cleaner

The Heavy Cleaner maintains the facility in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition.

Responsibilities

A typical day for a Heavy Cleaner at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

• Daily cleaning of patient rooms, communicating courteously and friendly with patients while performing duties such as:

• Hi and low dusting of all vertical surfaces

• Damp wiping of furniture
• Restroom servicing
• Removing refuse (Regulated and Medical Waste)
• Dry and wet mopping of floors or vacuuming
• Spot cleaning walls if visibly soiled
• Inspection and evaluation of work
• Performing discharge cleaning as per Housekeeping policies and procedures
• Daily cleaning of support areas (e.g., corridors, utility rooms, pantries, nurses' stations, treatment areas) according to patient room procedures
• Gathering necessary supplies and equipment daily, maintaining equipment properly
• Ensuring excellent customer service to improve patient satisfaction scores
• Floor burnishing
• Wall washing
• Moving heavy and light equipment
• Changing cubical curtains
• Window cleaning
• Carpet bonnet or extraction shampooing
• Upholstery cleaning techniques
• Floor stripping and refinishing
• Cycle cleaning of surgical suites as per policies
• Performing other duties as assigned

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
