Responsibilities

• Study plans, pay items, and scope documents to understand project requirements.
• Coordinate utility locates through the applicable state 811 system and confirm clearance before ground break.
• Arrange surveying and construction staking ahead of mobilization for accurate layout.
• Lead plan creation with Foreman: scope, sequencing, milestones, and objectives.
• Anticipate equipment, inspections, scheduling, and other operational needs.
• Submit RFIs with date, project, drawing reference, description, conflicts, and photo documentation.
• Assign crews and position personnel where work demands.
• Manage equipment and truck allocation to have the right assets on site.
• Deliver work that conforms to drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
• Run material testing on schedule to confirm compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
• Track schedule performance and intervene early to prevent delays.
• Lead weekly Job Hazard Analyses and safety meetings.
• Complete safety training and enforce regulations on site.
• Watch production rates and report progress to the Project Manager.

We're hiring a Superintendent to run field operations on active construction projects, directing self-perform crews and subcontractors while owning safety, quality, and workforce performance in the field. You'll be accountable for delivering work on schedule, holding the budget, and keeping every phase compliant with applicable codes, specifications, and safety requirements.

What You'll Bring

• High school diploma or GED

• Solid grasp of applicable municipal, state, and federal construction regulations

Schedule and Structure

Typical field schedule runs Monday through Friday, early start with a full day on site. Reports to the Operations Manager and partners closely with the Project Manager. Directly supervises Foremen and oversees subcontractor crews.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Planning and Preproduction

• Study plans, pay items, and scope documents until you have full command of what the project requires
• Handle utility locate requests through the applicable state 811 system and confirm clearance before any ground is broken
• Arrange surveying and construction staking ahead of mobilization so layout is accurate from day one
• Sit down with the Foreman to build the plan: scope, sequencing, milestones, and phase-by-phase objectives
• Anticipate downstream needs including equipment, inspections, testing windows, and any other operational requirements
• Submit RFIs across all project phases with complete supporting detail: date, project, drawing reference, description, the conflict identified, and photo documentation

Field Execution

• Assign crews and position personnel where the work demands it
• Manage equipment and truck allocation so the right assets are on site when they're needed
• Deliver work that conforms to drawings, specifications, and industry quality standards
• Run material testing on schedule to confirm compliance with project and regulatory requirements
• Track schedule performance and intervene early when something threatens to slip

Safety

• Lead weekly Job Hazard Analyses and confirm Foremen are completing theirs
• Complete required safety training and attend all safety meetings
• Enforce and model workplace and trade safety regulations without exception

Cost, Reporting, and Documentation

• Watch production rates and efficiency, and work with the Project Manager to keep costs recoverable
• Report work quantities accurately, every day, without lagReview timesheets, quantity sheets, and material tickets, since accurate timesheets are what make labor and production visible
• Check in with the Project Manager daily on progress, obstacles, and developments

People and Assets

• Manage attendance, conduct, and performance; address problems quickly and make sure Foremen are documenting uncorrected issues in writing
• Inspect tools and equipment routinely for proper use, upkeep, and protection against theft or damage
• Keep yards and storage areas orderly and compliant with safety and operational standards
