Job summary

WW Clyde in Arizona is seeking an Estimator - Heavy Civil to prepare portions of contract proposal estimates across multiple disciplines in heavy civil construction.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, at least 3 years estimating experience, and proficiency with HCSS Heavy Bid, Trimble, BlueBeam, Excel and other construction software. You will support project teams and ensure competitive, cost-effective bids.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years' experience estimating in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of construction design, methods and finance.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposal estimates for heavy civil construction including dirt work, underground utilities, and concrete.
• Review proposal specs and drawings to determine scope and contents of estimate.
• Prepare estimates by performing complete takeoffs of scope of work.
• Develop accurate estimated costs to complete the scope.
• Maintain estimating cost data base to keep costs up to date.
• Review design options and recommend cost-effective solutions.
• Obtain bids from subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
• Support other department personnel as required.

JOB SUMMARY

Prepare portions of contract proposal estimates for one or more disciplines in heavy civil construction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare proposal estimates for heavy civil construction to include but not limited to dirt work, underground utilites and concrete
• Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Determine applicable project plans and specifications.
• Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
• Develop accurate estimated costs to complete the applicable scope of work.
• Maintain the estimating cost data base to ensure costs are up to date.
• Review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
• Obtain bids from subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
• Support other department personnel as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Minimum 3 years' experience estimating in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of construction design, methods and finance.
• Superior communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational skills.
• Skilled in assuming responsibility and reaching deadlines.
• Familiarity / Proficiency with the following software or internet based programs: HCSS Heavy Bid, Trimble Business Center, BlueBeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Primavera P6, Building Connected, and Viewpoint.
