Job summary

Primoris Heavy Civil is seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator for our Houston, TX projects. You will operate excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and other machinery to support heavy civil construction tasks, while following project specs and safety rules.

Responsibilities include inspections, blueprint reading, communication with the team, and maintaining a clean work area. A valid CDL/driver's license and 3–5 years' relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience operating heavy civil equipment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and construction documents.
• Strong understanding of equipment operation, safety and maintenance.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to project specifications and company policies.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment, including checking fluid levels and tires.
• Dig, trench, grade, backfill, and move materials as directed by project supervisors.
• Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other construction documents.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment.
• Adhere to safety regulations and PPE requirements.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other personnel on site.
• Assist with other general labor duties as needed to support project completion.
