Position Summary:

The Project Manager is responsible for the successful planning, coordination, financial performance, and execution of Geotex construction projects from preconstruction through completion. This position manages heavy civil and site development projects involving earthwork, grading, underground utilities, demolition, and related site construction while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within scope, and within budget.

Working closely with Operations, Estimating, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and clients, the Project Manager serves as the primary link between the office and field. This role monitors production and job costs, reviews contracts and project requirements, coordinates materials and subcontractors, manages schedules and changes in scope, supports billing and forecasting, and proactively resolves issues that could affect project performance.

The successful candidate will bring practical construction knowledge and the ability to understand how work is actually performed in the field—not simply project management methodology. The Project Manager must be able to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, takeoffs, production information, and cost data and use that information to make sound operational and financial decisions.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Manage assigned heavy civil, site development, earthwork, grading, utility, and related construction projects from turnover through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, cost projections, schedules, procurement needs, and project timelines.
  • Monitor actual production against estimated production and identify cost or schedule concerns early.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents and Foremen to understand field conditions, manpower, equipment, materials, and production needs.
  • Review project plans, specifications, contracts, estimates, scopes of work, and other project documents before and throughout construction.
  • Identify scope gaps, changed conditions, extra work, and potential change orders and ensure they are properly documented, priced, communicated, and tracked.
  • Perform or review quantity takeoffs for material procurement, change-order pricing, and additional work.
  • Track project costs, committed costs, quantities, production, billing, and overall financial performance.
  • Assist with forecasting project profitability and anticipated cost-to-complete.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, trucking, materials, equipment, and other project resources as required.
  • Participate in project turnover meetings with Estimating and Operations.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, correspondence, reports, and records.
  • Communicate project expectations and changes effectively between clients, Operations, Estimating, and field personnel.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with owners, general contractors, inspectors, subcontractors, vendors, and other project partners.
  • Conduct or participate in project meetings and provide accurate updates regarding schedule, cost, production, and outstanding issues.
  • Support field leadership in resolving constructability issues, conflicts, delays, emergencies, and changing site conditions.
  • Ensure projects are performed in accordance with contractual requirements, company standards, and applicable safety requirements.
  • Visit active jobsites regularly to evaluate progress, understand field conditions, and maintain direct communication with project teams.
  • Help drive project closeout, including final quantities, outstanding changes, documentation, billing, and resolution of remaining project items.
Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of construction project management experience preferred.
  • 4+ years of prior field, sitework, heavy civil, underground utility, earthwork, or closely related construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction projects with responsibility for cost, schedule, production, and profitability.
  • Working knowledge of heavy civil/site development construction methods, sequencing, equipment, materials, and field operations.
  • Experience with earthwork, grading, storm, sanitary, waterline, or other underground utility construction highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and change-order processes.
  • Proven experience with job costing, estimating, quantity takeoffs, forecasting, billing, and project financial management.
  • Ability to compare estimated versus actual production and identify operational or financial concerns.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both field personnel and executive-level/client contacts.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond quickly to changing field conditions.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and competing demands.
  • Strong ownership mentality and willingness to follow issues through resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to build productive working relationships with Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, vendors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Construction management software experience required or strongly preferred; HeavyBid and Sage experience are beneficial.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High regard for jobsite and employee safety.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
Benefits and Compensation:

We provide a comprehensive package of employee benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, Accident Insurance, Employee Assistance Program, paid vacation and holidays, and financial wellness resources.

As an employee-owned company, we are committed to investing in our employees and creating opportunities for long-term career growth.

Compensation: $80,000.00-$100,000.00, based on experience and qualifications.

Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
