Job summary

RUTS Construction is seeking a Heavy Civil Construction Laborer in Corpus Christi, TX. You will work under the Foreman and perform a variety of construction-related tasks including heavy lifting, digging, equipment cleaning, site preparation, pipe assembly, and operating tools and equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred) and up to 1 year of heavy civil construction experience. A valid driver's license and ability to travel if needed are expected.

Responsibilities

• Digging, spreading, and leveling dirt, sand and gravel with a pick, shovel, or rake.
• Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools, and supplies.
• Clean tools, equipment, materials, and work areas.
• Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel, and other materials using hand tools.
• Join, wrap, and seal sections of pipe.
• Perform a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench, and assembling sections of pipe.
• Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering, and assisting in the excavation of pipes.
• Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Safety Manager.

Description

As a Heavy Civil Construction Laborer, you will work under the direction of the Foreman and perform a variety of construction-related tasks. This includes heavy lifting, digging, equipment cleaning, site preparation, pipe system assembly, and operating construction tools and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements:

• Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
• Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
• Manual dexterity is sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
