Job summary

SKYVAULT AI is seeking an experienced Lead HVAC Engineer to drive the design of modular data center environments across the United States. You will lead mechanical systems including chilled-water, DX, air-handling, and liquid-cooling, ensuring state‑of‑the‑art performance and code compliance.

You will review designs, calculations, and specifications, sign engineering documents after licensure, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project milestones and client expectations for

Qualifications

  • Active Professional Engineer license in at least one US state.
  • Eight years HVAC/mechanical design experience, incl. minimum three years in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of data center cooling systems and redundancy strategies.
  • Thorough knowledge of U.S. building/mechanical/energy/HVAC codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in HVAC calculations, energy analysis, and design documentation.
  • Experience with BIM software and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall design of HVAC and mechanical systems for modular data center projects in the U.S.
  • Adapt and optimize standardized modular designs to meet codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Perform HVAC load, airflow, hydraulic, piping, and energy calculations; sizing and redundancy.
  • Review drawings, specs, data sheets, BOMs, control narratives, and construction docs for accuracy.
  • Sign and seal HVAC documents after licensure; assume responsibility.
  • Coordinate with architecture, electrical, plumbing, and other teams to resolve interfaces.
  • Participate in technical evaluation of equipment and suppliers (chillers, pumps, etc.).
  • Support permit submissions, approvals, RFIs, design changes, and field inspections.

Job description

  • Lead the overall design of HVAC and mechanical systems for modular data center projects in the United States, including chilled-water systems, direct-expansion systems, air-handling systems, ventilation systems, humidification and dehumidification systems, liquid-cooling support systems, and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Adapt, review, and optimize standardized modular designs in accordance with applicable building, mechanical, energy, fire, and local jurisdictional requirements.
  • Perform or review HVAC load calculations, airflow analysis, hydraulic calculations, piping network calculations, equipment sizing, system redundancy design, energy-efficiency analysis, and control-sequence development.
  • Review HVAC design drawings, engineering calculations, technical specifications, equipment data sheets, bills of materials, control narratives, and construction documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and suitability for permitting and construction.
  • Sign and seal HVAC engineering documents and assume applicable professional responsibility after obtaining active licensure in the project jurisdiction.
  • Coordinate with architecture, structural, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, low-voltage, controls, product design, BIM, supply chain, factory manufacturing, and project delivery teams to resolve multidisciplinary interfaces and spatial conflicts.
  • Participate in the technical evaluation of HVAC equipment and suppliers, including chillers, cooling towers, dry coolers, air-handling equipment, terminal units, pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and liquid-cooling equipment.
  • Support permit submissions, technical coordination with Authorities Having Jurisdiction, bid clarifications, construction RFIs, design changes, field issue resolution, installation inspections, system commissioning, functional testing, and final handover.


Qualification

  • sBachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related discipline
  • .Active Professional Engineer license in at least one U.S. state or jurisdiction, with the ability to obtain active Mechanical PE licensure in the applicable project state before serving as the signing and sealing engineer
  • .Minimum of eight years of HVAC or mechanical systems design experience, including at least three years of experience with data centers, mission-critical facilities, semiconductor facilities, industrial facilities, or other high-reliability projects
  • .Strong knowledge of data center cooling systems and redundancy strategies, including air-cooled, chilled-water, evaporative-cooling, economizer, direct-expansion, and liquid-cooling systems. Experience with high-density computing facilities is preferred
  • .Thorough knowledge of applicable U.S. building, mechanical, energy, fire, and HVAC-related codes and standards, with the ability to independently perform code research, compliance assessments, and technical coordination with local authorities
  • .Demonstrated capability in HVAC load calculations, hydraulic calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, control-sequence development, technical specification preparation, and construction-document review
  • .Proficiency in commonly used HVAC calculation, design, and BIM software, with the ability to review models, drawings, equipment layouts, and coordinated routing
  • .Strong multidisciplinary, cross-cultural, and technical English communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with U.S. clients, consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and China-based engineering teams. Willingness to travel within the United States as required
