Job summary

Carrier is seeking a Senior Engineering Services and Support technician to join their team. This role involves setting up and monitoring tests on gas furnaces and fan coils, and requires a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

About This Role

This position is for a senior Engineering Services and Support technician who is under general supervision. Performs basic to moderately complex technical tasks which contribute to the planning and execution of engineering projects. Collaborates with higher level support staff to confer with engineers on details and implications of test procedures and results. May assist in orienting, training, and assigning work of technical/business support employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and instrumentation of gas furnaces and fan coils in laboratory test stands.
  • Run and monitor tests on gas furnaces and fan coils under the direction of engineers.
  • Use computer to collect and communicate test data with engineers.
  • Modify and fabricate test units and test setups as directed by engineers.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years of Field and/or professional Engineering/ Technical Support working experience, OR Bachelor’s Degree, Associates Degree, Technical / Business School Certificate or Diploma, or Skilled Trades Apprenticeship
  • Ability to work a first-shift schedule, Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mechanical Aptitude – ability to use basic hand tools in a lab environment
  • Electrical Aptitude – electrical/electronic knowledge, able to perform basic wiring tasks, read wiring diagrams and use a Volt/Ohm meter
  • Basic computer skills - ability to operate a Windows PC, and communicate effectively via email and instant message.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to comprehend and comply with EH&S Practices & Policies and Ethics Practices
  • Proven capacity to self-direct/motivate with a vision toward future goals
  • Ability to lift and move up to 35 lbs with no assistance
  • Working knowledge of and ability to trouble-shoot HVAC systems
  • Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with and ability to use data systems, databases, and specialized lab testing software
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and instrumentation
  • Experience working in a team and matrix environment
