Responsibilities

• Design and optimize heat-treatment cycles (carburizing, induction hardening, quenching, tempering) to meet specs.
• Address defects and process deviations to improve yield and quality.
• Conduct metallurgical tests (hardness, tensile, microstructure) to ensure product quality.
• Ensure compliance with ASTM/ISO and customer specifications.
• Operate and maintain furnaces and quenching systems; troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Train and supervise Heat Treatment Operators and Production Supervisors; report to VP of Manufacturing.

A leading manufacturing company is seeking a skilled and dedicated Heat Treatment Engineer to design, optimize, and manage thermal processing operations to enhance the mechanical properties, durability, and performance of metal components. This role plays a critical part in combining metallurgy expertise, process control, and quality assurance to ensure product specifications are met while leading shop floor team members. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of thermal processing, hands‑on testing abilities, and strong engineering problem‑solving skills.

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Process Design & Optimization
• Develop and refine heat treatment cycles (such as Carburizing, Induction Hardening, quenching, tempering, etc.) to meet material specifications and performance goals.
• Address defects, material inconsistencies, or process deviations to continuously improve yield and product quality.
• Metallurgical Testing & Quality Assurance
• Conduct and interpret metallurgical tests, including hardness, tensile, and microstructure analysis, to ensure top product quality.
• Ensure full compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASTM, ISO) and specific customer specifications.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance
• Operate and maintain furnaces, quenching systems, and related equipment.
• Troubleshoot technical and equipment issues to maintain process consistency and uptime.
• Training & Team Supervision
• Train and guide Heat Treatment Operators and Production Supervisors on safe, efficient heat treatment procedures.
• Work closely with manufacturing management (reporting to the Vice President) to ensure high operational performance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in heat treating, metallurgy, or manufacturing engineering (experience in aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing sectors is preferred).
• Soft Skills: High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
