Job summary

You will operate electric furnaces and related equipment, select quenching media, run hardness testing, and may handle cyanide pots. Experience in heat treatment is required; multiple machines and processes are used on site.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of heat treater experience.

Responsibilities

• Heat treat a variety of steel parts and tools to prevent warping.
• Select timing for depth of case.
• Manage electric furnaces for proper heating and timing.
• Select appropriate quenching medium.
• Operate hardness testing equipment.
• May occasionally operate cyanide pot.
• May specialize in steel or heat treat.
• Set up and operate Gleason Quenching Press, Lepel or other high frequency welding or induction heating machines.
• Start and operate Neutralene Generator, utilize a nitrogen / methanol system and check for proper operating condition.
