Job summary

Fastenal Co. in Wallingford, CT is seeking a full-time Manufacturing Heat Treat operator. You will assist heat treat operators by receiving and moving products to be processed, operating a forklift, and positioning loads for furnace treatment at 2:30pm–11:00pm shift.

As you progress, you will learn furnace operation, schedule incoming product, map loads, test and document outcomes, and support throughput goals. Entry-level with growth opportunities within Fastenal’s manufacturing network.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and possess a valid driver's license.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills and basic math ability.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, organization, and sense of urgency.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Must be able to pass drug screen as applicable in the US.
• Lift, slide, carry and lower packages weighing 25–50 lbs, up to 100 lbs.
• Forklift or material handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and map furnace loads for processing.
• Adjust and monitor furnace equipment controls.
• Transfer loads into and out of thermal processing equipment.
• Record and document processing of materials through heat treating.
• Inspect metal parts for hardness and specifications.
• Report equipment malfunctions and required repairs.
• Operate finishing equipment to finalize surface finish after heat treatment.
• Repack heat treated parts for further processing.
