Job summary

ATI is seeking a Heat Treat Operator for its manufacturing facility in Cudahy, WI. You will set up, operate and tend to heat equipment, temper, harden, anneal metal and ensure products meet customer specs.

Training is on 1st or 2nd shift with permanent shift determined after training. Responsibilities include loading forgings, monitoring furnaces, performing hardness testing, and documenting process parameters.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills.
• Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension; ability to read instructions and perform simple measurements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare furnace loads according to detailed furnace load map.
• Assemble load thermocouples.
• Load forgings into heat-treat furnace and remove after heating.
• Move completed furnace load to cooling station.
• Set furnace temperature controls for material and process.
• Monitor furnace operation and performance.
• Process forgings through quench and cool operations.
• Generate and update reports documenting process parameters.
• Operate hardness testing equipment to determine hardness after heat treatment.

ATI is currently looking for a Heat Treat Operator within our manufacturing facility in Cudahy, WI. As a Heat Treat Operator, you will be an integral part of a successful team that is responsible for producing machined in military, aerospace, oil/gas and other applications.

As a Heat Treat Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to heat equipment, such as heat-treating furnaces to temper, harden, anneal, and/or heat treat metal. In this position you will be required to perform heating and cooling operations necessary to impact physical properties in forgings to conform to our customer specifications

Training will be conducted on 1st or 2nd shift. Permanent shift will be determined after training.

• Prepare and assembles load thermocouple
• Load forgings into heat treat furnace and removes from furnace after required heating using a combination of manipulators and forklifts

• Monitor furnace operation and performance as required
• Process forgings through quench and cool operations
• Work from specifications, chart, detailed work instructions, etc.

• Operate Brinell/Rockwell hardness testing equipment determining the hardness of forgings after heat treatment
• Create move tickets after heat treatment processing is complete

Basic Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in a transferrable industry with transferrable skills.
• Basic reading, math, and measurement comprehension. The ability to read instructions and perform simple measurements is critical.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent, Vo-Tech Certificate or associate degree in electrical, mechanical or another related curriculum
• Experience with AMS 2750 pyrometry standard
• Experience with hardness testing
