Job summary

Syngenta Group in Fargo, ND offers a Heartland Crop Protection Field Development Intern position within the Emerging Talent Program. You will work alongside experienced R&D scientists on meaningful projects that contribute to the development of crop protection products and technologies.

You will gain hands-on experience in field, greenhouse, and laboratory environments and build technical, professional, and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or advanced degree program in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, or another closely related field of study.
  • Continued enrollment after the internship concludes (graduation date of December 2027 or later).
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to work outdoors and outside normal working hours.
  • Proficiency operating basic farm equipment is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Build knowledge of Syngenta, crop protection, and the product development process.
  • Support Crop Protection Field Development trialing activities, such as planting, treatment application, maintenance, in-field data capture, data summarization, and hosting field tours.
  • Develop an understanding of Crop Protection Field Development’s collaboration with local Syngenta commercial teams (e.g., Sales, Agronomy Services).
  • Learn processes and skills utilized to develop products and technologies.
  • Learn how to work independently, without direct supervision, and in compliance with Syngenta safety guidelines.
  • Identify two to three personal development goals and actively pursue them throughout the internship.
  • Manage an internship project under the guidance of Crop Protection Field Development Scientist(s).
  • Deliver a final summary presentation of the internship project/experience to stakeholders.
  • Participate in performance discussions with a supervisor to support continuous learning, growth, and professional development.

Syngenta's Product Biology Team is seeking aHeartland Crop Protection Field Development Intern in Fargo, ND. This internship role will work alongside experienced R&D Scientists on meaningful projects that contribute to the development of crop protection products and technologies. You will be exposed to independent project work, as well as job shadowing and cross-functional opportunities, while also gaining hands‑on experience in field, greenhouse, and/or laboratory environments and building technical, professional, and leadership skills.


As part of Syngenta's Emerging Talent Program, you will gain hands‑on experience, exposure to day-to-day business operations, and opportunities to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing your professional skills.


Accountabilities:


  • Build knowledge of Syngenta, crop protection, and the product development process.

  • Develop an understanding of Crop Protection Field Development’s role in research and development.

Salary for this position ranges between $20 - $45 hourly.
