This RN Apprentice position pays $18.00/hour. The RN Apprentice LPN position pays $20.00/hour. This is an hourly position.
Summary
Participants, enrolled in their second year of Heartland Community College's Nursing Program, will work 4 hours/week in an eligible medical surgical unit or other participating department as a Nurse Apprentice, receiving an apprentice stipend to assist with living expenses.
The program supports academic progression and clinical competence by working alongside experienced OSF nurses to gain real clinical experience, aiding in the successful completion of the nursing program and NCLEX exam. Afterward, participants transition into a Graduate Intern role, then into a full-time RN position, with a starting salary of $65,665 and potential for salary growth through career ladder opportunities.
Participants must be enrolled in their second year of the Heartland Community College Nursing program for Fall 2025.
A Nurse Apprentice participates in a formal apprenticeship during nursing school, spending 4 hours weekly in a clinical setting with a registered nurse. Responsibilities include patient assessments, documentation, care planning, interdisciplinary communication, patient education, procedures, and skill development. During summer breaks, the apprentice works full-time as a nurse intern. The goal is to transition into a Registered Nurse role upon graduation and licensure, with clinical experience supporting NCLEX success.
