Job summary

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking a Heart Transplant Surgeon fellow to participate in advanced training across two high-volume services in Pennsylvania. The fellowship offers graded independence under the division co-chiefs and a rotation-based schedule, combining hands-on surgical management with bedside teaching for junior fellows and residents.

You will lead inpatient heart and lung transplant care, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and engage in organ offers, planning, and OR participation

Qualifications

Fellowship-level training in heart and/or lung transplantation preferred.
Experience collaborating with cardiology, pulmonology, and critical care teams is desirable.
Commitment to teaching and developing junior trainees.

Responsibilities

Lead day-to-day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre-, intra-, and postoperative care, ICU rounding, and discharge planning.
Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, ECMO/VAD, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant and related procedures.
Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
Participate in on-call duties as assigned.
