Job summary

UPMC is recruiting a Heart & Lung Transplant Fellow to participate in advanced training across two high-volume services. The fellow will support the Heart and Lung Transplant programs with graded responsibility toward independence under the division co-chiefs, in a rotation-based fellowship.

In addition to surgical management, the fellow will serve as a teaching assistant for junior cardiothoracic fellows and residents, contributing to bedside teaching, case-based education, and structured

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day management of heart and lung transplant inpatients, including pre-, intra-, and postoperative care, ICU rounding, and discharge planning.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care with transplant cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart and lung failure teams, ECMO/VAD services, infectious diseases, pharmacy, PT/OT, social work, and care management.
• Participate in organ offers/list management, selection conferences, operative planning, and OR participation for transplant and related procedures.
• Engage in quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives within the transplant programs.
• Participate in call as assigned.
