Job summary

Hartford HealthCare, through Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT, seeks an Hearing Instrument Specialist to support clinical and administrative duties and to assist physicians in patient care. The specialist conducts hearing assessments for fitting and dispensing hearing aids and collaborates with the clinical team to provide ongoing patient education.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, CT license, and NBC-HIS certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Audiology, Hearing Instrument Science preferred
  • 1 year of experience in an ENT or Audiology practice required, 2+ years of experience in an ENT or Audiology practice preferred
  • Connecticut Hearing Instrument Specialist license required
  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Hearing Instrument Sciences (NBC-HIS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for both clinical and administrative areas including assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. May be assigned to specific medical specialty department. The Hearing Instrument Specialist conducts hearing assessments for the purpose of fitting and dispensing hearing aids. Provides ongoing support and education to patients in collaboration with clinical staff.

Qualifications
