Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools seeks an interpreter support professional to assist hearing impaired students in classroom activities and group settings. You will orient students to communication needs, provide tutoring or note-taking, and support staff with IEP implementation.

Required is a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an interpreter preparation program or equivalent experience, and licensure or permission from the Alabama Licensure Board for Interpreters and Transliterators.

  • Assist in providing orientations to deafness to hearing students and staff.
  • Assist itinerant and classroom teachers with the implementation of IEPs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1. Orients and provides instructional assistance to individuals or small groups of hearing impaired students for group activities such as classroom lectures, group discussions, movies, plays, tapes, speakers, field trips and personal communications involving conversations and other verbal communications as requested and needed.
  • 2. Provide tutoring and/or note taking services for the hearing impaired student when necessary in conjunction with the area subject teacher
  • 3. Assist in providing orientations to deafness to hearing students and staff
  • 4. Assist itinerant and classroom teachers with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • 5. Performs other related duties as assigned

Salary Range:

According to Madison County Schools Salary Schedule. Actual salary will be determined by rank and experience. Current employees with questions regarding step placement on the salary schedule should contact the Personnel Department.
