Position Details

Location: MDH - Garrett County Health Department, 1025 Memorial Drive, Oakland, MD 21550

Grade: ASTD8

Job Purpose

This full-time contractual position supports the Garrett County Health Department in promoting, protecting, and improving community health. It involves providing in-home support services through intensive home visiting to pregnant women and children up to five years old under the Healthy Families America program. Responsibilities include improving birth outcomes, strengthening families, nurturing parent-child relationships, promoting child health and development, and supporting family stability and functioning. The role involves collaboration with health professionals and community agencies to support families and children's health, safety, and development.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of support service experience with children or adults, teaching practical living skills

Experience may be substituted with relevant college coursework or military service in social services.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with families and children in a home setting.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Maryland driver’s license
• Possibility of acquiring a Certified Nursing Assistant license

Additional Requirements

• Completion of entry-level training program
• Use of personal vehicle for client transportation, with proof of insurance
