Job summary

Hy-Vee seeks a HealthMarket Clerk to support the HealthMarket department and keep shelves stocked and welcoming for customers. You’ll greet shoppers, help locate products, and assist with suggestions while maintaining cleanliness and compliance with store policies.

No prior experience is required; Hy-Vee will train you. This hourly role involves active, teamwork-driven work in a fast-paced environment, with room to grow within the store.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence.
• Use basic math for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
• Communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly way.
• Stay organized and keep pace in a busy department.
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent accepted; up to six months of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome.
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing feedback to the team.
• Educate customers by offering product suggestions and answering questions.
• Assist in locating homeopathic and natural wellness products without giving medical advice.
• Monitor product freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products as needed.
• Anticipate daily product needs and follow a production list to stay ahead.
• Check in product, put away, and review invoices as needed.
• Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized.
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department.
• Work with teammates to ensure a smooth, positive customer experience.

What You'll Do

No two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome throughout the store
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and passing along any feedback or requests to the team
• Help educate customers by offering product suggestions and answering questions
• For homeopathic and natural wellness products, assist customers by helping them locate and access products, without providing medical instruction or advice on product use
• Monitor product freshness and appearance throughout your shift and replenish and rotate product as needed
• Anticipate daily product needs and follow or develop a production list to stay ahead
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed
• Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep your work area clean and organized at all times
• Remove trash promptly and maintain a tidy department
• Work alongside your teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer
• Maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed
• You'll receive direction and support from: Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Health Wellness Home, Store Operations, and Perishables, and HealthMarket Department Manager

Physical Requirements

Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas

Where applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation

Where applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment

Where applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards

Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties

Working Environment

This is a fast-moving role where things stay busy and engaging. You may work in areas with temperature changes or damp conditions, and may encounter equipment movement hazards, electrical equipment, and cleaning products or solvents as part of the day-to-day environment. Safety is always a priority, and training is provided to help ensure a safe and supportive work environment.

Salary / Benefits
