Job summary

Highmark Health Summer 2027 Software Engineer enGen Graduate Internship offers graduate students hands-on experience building and modernizing enterprise healthcare software.

Embedded within the DCSS application development team, the intern will contribute to application development, API integrations, cloud-enabled solutions, and modernization initiatives that support critical business and healthcare operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
• Pursuit of a graduate degree (full or part-time) in an accredited college or university.
• Preferred: pursuing a master's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or related technical field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test software components across the lifecycle.
• Support APIs and system integrations.
• Analyze issues and contribute to modernization initiatives.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and document technical work.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineers, architects, analysts, and product owners.
• Gain exposure to cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and enterprise architecture.
• Prepare for a full-time career in software engineering or healthcare technology.
