Job summary

Vaco is seeking a Senior Accountant for a 2–6 month contract opportunity in California. The role focuses on month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with strong GAAP knowledge and advanced Excel skills. Healthcare industry experience is highly preferred to support specialized financial operations and audits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including Senior Accountant level.
• Healthcare industry experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient in U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, Index/Match.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial statements and investigate variances.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure timely resolution of items.
• Assist with financial reporting and management reporting packages.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis as needed.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Partner with cross-functional departments to ensure accurate financial data.
• Assist with external audits and provide requested supporting documentation.
• Support special projects, process improvements, and ad hoc financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
