Job summary

State of Indiana seeks an Assistant Commissioner for Consumer Services and Health Care Regulation to lead regulatory oversight of healthcare facilities, providers, and quality of care issues.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in health care policy or regulatory roles; advanced licensure or law degree preferred. Supervisory experience is required, with a focus on compliance and protecting Hoosiers.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of agency programs, public policy, and program evaluation.
• Ability to develop and measure program outcomes.
• Strong relationships with public and private leaders.
• Experience supervising staff and managing workload.

Responsibilities

• Review organizational effectiveness, set goals, and make improvement recommendations.
• Coordinate plans, policies, resources, and agency goals.
• Provide guidance to agencies and the public on laws and rules.
• Supervise staff including hiring, workload, and performance reviews.
• Monitor agency budgets, revenues, expenditures, and projections.
• Communicate with media and respond to inquiries professionally.
• Coordinate with other government officials on planning issues.
• Review and evaluate controls and standards for the agency.
• Recruit, onboard, and train employees; support ongoing development.
• Set performance expectations and ensure quality, deadlines, and procedures.
