Job summary

UVA Community Health is seeking a Public Safety Officer to maintain a safe and secure environment across our facilities. The role requires vigilant security practices, crisis response readiness, and strong communication with staff and patients.

The position offers a 6a-6p schedule with weekends rotate, a $2,000 sign-on bonus, and opportunities to engage in ongoing training through our healthcare security programs. Prior security or law enforcement experience is valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Public interactions work experience required. Work experience in related field preferred (law enforcement, military, or security management). Previous healthcare security experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Respond to security breaches and emergencies following established policies.
• Operate patrol vehicles and coordinate with hospital security teams as needed.
