Job summary

Lahser Hills Care Center in Southfield, MI is seeking a Patient Accounts Billing Coordinator to supervise patient billing, trust accounts and file management. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely billing and collections across inpatient and outpatient services.

The ideal candidate has a degree in business, accounting or healthcare and 1-3 years of relevant experience, with strong customer service and HIPAA knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Healthcare or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• 1-3 years of related experience in Accounts Receivable, Collections, Billing or Healthcare preferred.
• Basic knowledge of insurance guidelines, medical terminology, and HIPAA compliance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and process inpatient/outpatient charges, posting, billing, and collection operations, ensuring policy compliance.
• Screen and review applicants to determine patient billing coverage and whether patient benefits are exhausted.
• Ensure accurate and timely billing by staff and establish controls for submission, billing, and payment cycles.
• Assist with billing for Medicare, Medicaid, Private Medical Insurance, and HMOs.
• Monitor billing and collections in line with state and federal regulations.
