Job summary

The Maintenance Assistant at Anoka Rehab & Living Center, part of Volunteers of America National Services (VOANS), maintains a safe, attractive environment and supports residents and staff in a healthcare setting. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, cleaning, and timely reporting of supply needs.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and at least two years of building maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to perform routine, repetitive cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Ability to read, understand and follow written and oral instructions for chemicals and cleaners.
• Minimum of two years of building maintenance experience preferred.
• Some knowledge of state building, plumbing and electrical codes and local ordinances.
• Capable of using manuals to install and repair machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs inside and outside the facility.
• Clean, sweep, mop, wash and polish floors in common areas.
• Strip, wax and polish floors per schedule.
• Clean walls, ceilings and lighting fixtures.
• Transport and dispose of trash and manage waste receptacles.
• Ensure supplies are stored securely and safely.
• Maintain equipment and handle replacements as needed.
