Job summary

The Laundry Worker position is with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Bedford Healthcare System, Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the Bedford location.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week role with a Monday-Friday schedule (6:00am-2:30pm). Responsibilities include on-site laundry processing, handling textiles, and ensuring safety procedures and record-keeping are followed in a noisy, hot, humid environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site laundry washing services for inpatient personal laundry, employee VA-issued clothing, cubicle curtains, and specialty items such as safe patient handling devices.
• Transport textiles to various facility locations and assist with sanitation and logistics/warehouse product lines.
• Evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
• Follow instructions and use protective procedures when handling chemicals.
• Assist with orders for laundry products and textiles and maintain accurate records of laundry received and processed.
