Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission in Vernon, TX is hiring a Laundry/Sewing Room Worker II to operate and oversee commercial laundry equipment in a busy state hospital setting.

The role requires knowledge of laundry processes, ability to lift heavy loads, and adherence to infection-control standards. You will perform sorting, washing, ironing, folding, and delivery of linens while supporting a team-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Paid or unpaid experience in laundry and/or sewing services.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess a valid Texas driver license or obtain it within 90 days of hire.
• Flexibility in work hours; overtime may be required.
• Immunization policy compliance per HHSC requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Continuous Batch Washer (CBW), dryers, and irons.
• Oversee soil sort and clean processing areas.
• Fold, wrap, and prepare linens for delivery to units.
• Maintain a clean, safe, infection-control compliant work environment.
• Assist with delivery, pickups, and order fulfillment as needed.
