Job summary

Qualifications

• Must read Standard English.
• Must operate standard and commercial laundry machinery.
• Must understand and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Report to laundry at assigned time and gather dirty laundry as instructed.
• Load washers with dirty linens and prepare linen for morning change.
• Keep dirty linen separate from clean linen at all times.
• Check water temperature of each washing machine to be sure it is at least 150°.
• Clean lint traps per policy or each shift.
• Check levels of detergents, softeners and bleach per policy.
• Keep floors, walls and equipment clean.
• Remove clean laundry from washer and load dryer, ensuring it does not touch the floor.
• Inform supervisor of equipment problems so repairs can be made.
• Shut down all laundry equipment per policy during fire alarm.
• Be familiar with and follow all policies and procedures.
• Work safely when using chemical agents.
