Job summary

GetHired, Inc. is seeking a hospital cook to prepare food for patients, employees, and guests under the Food Services Director. The role includes supervising the Food Service Department in the director's absence, coordinating menus, and ensuring timely, safe, and sanitary preparation.

Requirements include the ability to read/write, two years of large-scale food prep experience, and the capacity to pass a criminal background check and drug test. Immediate hire is anticipated pending clearance.

Qualifications

• Must read and write and perform simple calculations; follow written and oral instructions.
• Thorough knowledge of foods and preparation methods.
• Know proper cooking temperatures for meats and other foods.
• Able to time cooking of vegetables to preserve nutrition, flavor and appearance.
• Two years of training or experience in large-scale food preparation.
• Training in food preparation, cooking, estimating quantities, requisitioning and storage, kitchen management, sanitation and safety.

Responsibilities

• Reviews menus to determine types and quantities of foods to be prepared.
• Plans cooking schedule with the Director to ensure food is ready on time.
• Prepares cooking and seasoning of food items for each meal.
• Measures and mixes ingredients using kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Bakes, roasts, broils and steams meats, fish and other foods.
• Observes and tastes foods, adjusts seasoning as needed.
• Procures food from storage areas.
• Carves portions of meat and portions servings as per orders.
• Supervises and assists on serving line.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly cooking area.
• Adheres to dress codes and time/workload changes.
