Job summary

Surgimate is seeking a Software Engineer – Integrations & Interfaces to bridge application development and healthcare interoperability. You will design, build, and maintain data interfaces with HL7, FHIR, and modern APIs to connect Surgimate’s platform with external healthcare IT systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 4–6 years of professional software development and system integrations.
• Proficiency in at least one modern language/framework: Angular, Ruby on Rails, Python, PHP, NodeJS or Java.
• Proven experience with HL7 interface development, message types (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU), and FHIR APIs.
• Strong RESTful API design, JSON/XML data structures, and SQL/NoSQL.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement HL7 and API-based integrations between Surgimate and partner systems.
• Perform data mapping, transformation, and validation for data exchanges.
• Build and support interface workflows using integration tools (e.g., Mirth Connect).
• Collaborate with external providers, IT teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable data interoperability.
• Troubleshoot, test, and monitor interfaces to minimize downtime.
• Contribute to design, development, and maintenance of Surgimate’s web and backend applications.
• Develop and document RESTful APIs and services to support integrations.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and testing standards.
• Collaborate with QA, Product, and US-based Engineering to deliver scalable solutions.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve integration/software issues reported by teams/clients.
• Suggest enhancements to architecture and data exchange efficiency.
