Job summary

Duke University Health System is seeking an HVAC Technician to perform hands-on installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems across Duke Hospital, Clinic facilities, and Research spaces. You will interpret blueprints, set initial and final system configurations, and ensure compliant operation of diverse equipment.

Two years of relevant experience in refrigeration/air conditioning is required, along with an educational background in skilled trades.

Qualifications

Education - high school with coursework in skilled craft or trades training.
Experience - 2 years in charging small refrigeration appliances, changing compressors, belts and valves, and adjusting temperature/humidity controls.
OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

Perform basic level work to repair and/or replace HVAC systems and equipment (e.g., chillers, cooling towers, AHU/RTU, ducts, pumps).
Complete required documentation and use computer software for construction activities and compliance.
Install HVAC systems by interpreting blueprints and manufacturer specs.
Make initial settings and final adjustments to achieve required results.
Assist in repairs of pumps and compressors and adjust air conditioning/refrigeration units.
Change filters, clean coils and motors, and lubricate equipment.
Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.
